Rubber and plastic blends have generally been prepared by melt-mixing techniques. Melt-mixing is an easy and economical way of blending different polymers to avoid such problems of contamination, solvent or water removal. Melt mixing can be accomplished by using various devices, including two-roll mills, mixers, and various types of twin-screw extruders.
In order for an extruder to perform the dispersive function of an internal mixer, special mixing screws must be employed. These mixers can contain dams so that the material is forced through tight clearances with the walls and is thereby subjected to large shearing stresses and flows to achieve dispersion.
Depending on many variables including mixer length, tube inner diameter, the number of elements and their design, we can manufacturer removable mixers to your precise specifications.
